Ragtime was produced by the Surflight Theatre in June, 2009. It was directed by Christine Kahler, choreographed by Paula Hammons Sloan with set design by David Esler, and costume design by Jong Kim Hee.

We are introduced to the People of Harlem



The radical Anarchist Emma Goldman introduces herself.



End of the prologue.



Mother sings "Goodbye My Love" as Father leaves on an expedition to the North Pole.

Tateh and Father sing "Two Ships Passing"



The introduction of show girl Evelyn Nesbit at her husband's trial.



Brother addresses the audience about his love for Evelyn Nesbit.



The Immigrants at Ellis Island



Tateh sings about his hope for his daughter's future in America



Tateh has started his business as an artist on the lower east side



Tateh observes the silhouettes of all the people around him.



Wealthy banker J.P. Morgan keeps the immigrants oppressed.



We're introduced to Coalhouse Walker playing piano at the Clef Club in Harlem.



Coalhouse sings about finding his lost love, Sarah.



Coalhouse is going to get a Ford Model T. Here we see Henry Ford describing his plan for assembly line mass production.



The Ford assembly line completes a Model T.



Coalhouse finds where Sarah is staying with the family in New Rochelle and sees his son for the first time.



The family sings "New Music" as Coalhouse tries to convince Sarah to take him back.



Brother tells about Emma Goldman's rally in Union Square in "The Night That Goldman Spoke at Union Square"



We see a workers' strike in Lawrence, MA as brother narrates.



After finding immigrant life very difficult in the city, Tateh takes his daughter on the train to Boston.



As Coalhouse is driving to see Sarah in New Rochelle, he is stopped by a group of racist volunteer firemen.



Coalhouse describes how the firemen destroyed his new Model T when he went to find a cop.



Prior to a presidential rally, Sarah plans to plead with the president to help Coalhouse get justice for what happened to him in New Rochelle.



When Sarah tried to get near the president, she was beaten to death. Here we see the start of her funeral with the song "Til We Reach That Day"

Until he can get justice, Coalhouse takes matters into his own hands by going on a rampage killing firemen and burning down fire stations in "Coalhouse Demands"



End of "Coalhouse Demands"



The men take the little boy to a baseball game as an escape from all the trouble surrounding Coalhouse's actions.



In a dream sequence, Coalhouse remembers his early days with Sarah in "Sarah Brown Eyes"



Emma Goldman describes the Brother deciding to join Coalhouse's cause in "He Wanted to Say"



The Brother (an explosives expert) and Coalhouse decide to join forces and go on an arsonist rampage.



Coalhouse and his men have taken over the Morgan library while the police and a crowd are outside.



Insode the library, Coalhouse and his men pass the time while Father tries to convince him to give up.



After Caolhouse's men are allowed to leave, Father and Coalhouse are alone in the library.



The epilogue, after Coalhouse is shot.



The spirits of Coalhouse and Sarah watching the Family as they raise Coalhouse Jr.
